The Palace Restaurant presents the DAHL News, Rumor, & Gossip Ticker.............Latest Level 1 / Comp League rumor mill has Wayne Gretzky's former on-ice bodyguard Dave Semenko buying a house in Durango in recent weeks.  No word yet on whether the legendary Oiler will be living here full time or lacing them up for one of the Comp teams.  'Anonymous Al', a member of the Comp team sponsored by a beverage company, insisted his team had not secretly contacted Semenko and offered him a spot on their squad...........  Mike Parker (Level 1, Gorton) happily reported he spent his $2 lottery winnings on a Blue Powerade after a hard 'drop-in' session.............  Old Dawgs, the Yankees of Level 2 / A1 are rumored to be interested in luring Andy Snow out of retirement, are also reported to have dispatched scouts to the new rink in Grand Junction in an attempt to poach up-and-coming stars from rival communities.....; Determined GM Jim Mackay was recently quoted saying 'Hey, we're the Old Dawgs.  We expect to win and have fun doing it.  Who doesn't want that?  We even have home and away jerseys, try topping that, tough guy.'........... El Rancho Captain Bill Brown has formally requested an investigation into the recruting tactics of Old Dawgs, claiming among other things that 'the Mold Hawgs are bad for the sport.  They don't work hard to win, they just buy whoever they want.  I think they paid off the Refs in last year's championship game.  Damn 'toad frawgs,' I think I hate those guys as much as I hate Slayers...'................Defending Level 3 Champs, Cuckoos have begun talks with departing Comp league defenseman John Meade 'me a bedtime story' about possibly linking up to form a Level 2 team.  Meade, who will no doubt require a 7-digit signing bonus, is rumored to be a bit apprehensive about the new USA Hockey crackdown on 'hooking'..........Nominations are now being accepted for this year's Ice Babe and Ice Stud competitions - due to numerous requests, there will be pics of all the competitors so that you actually can see who they are and know who you're voting for...........New USA Hockey rules go into affect when the 2nd First Freeze session begins on Sunday, October 15th.......All current and former Gorton players get to play by the old rules, except if Clay comes back to town. In that scenario, the new rules WILL apply to Mr. Rardon.............Should  Da Boys change their team name?  Should they change their team colors??  Rumor has it they will be sportin' new jerseys modeled after either the University of Michigan's yellow jersey or the University of Minnesota's maroon one.  Can I say on behalf of the rest of the league and those that have watched it over the past 2 years, thank you!  The blue and orange needs to go bye-bye for a long time.....  (Can you tell I went to college in western NY with a bunch of delusional, orange & blue-crazed Islander fans?).................More news to come......
